We operate our long-term treatment program at the Polk County Jail. Our program is open to anyone who needs help conquering their drug or alcohol problem, though many of the individuals in our program are facing legal consequences as a result of their alcohol and drug use. Our mission statement is simple: “We invite you to a better life.” We provide hope for our clients through a combination of evidence-based approaches designed to effect self-change in the whole person: biologically, psychologically, socially, and spiritually.

Addiction Technician

Deliver clinical support services consistent with the values and quality standards of Bridges of Iowa:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Guest Care

  • Ensure the safety and comfort of Bridges of Iowa clients
  • Complete bag checks of clients entering the facility
  • Assist in the new client intake
  • Ensure the collection and transfer of paychecks
  • Ensure chore completion
  • Verify community pass movement
  • Ensure availability of all necessary supplies
  • Transportation of clients to and from the facility
  • Complete room searches and counts
  • Work with the clinical team to ensure compliance with Bridges of Iowa policies and procedures
  • Collect UA/BAC 

Documentation

  • Complete required critical incident reporting when appropriate
  • Enter all clinical documentation into EMR required by State, accrediting body, and Bridges of Iowa Institute
  • Clinical documentation meets standards appropriate of licensure, state, and accreditation
  • Obtain and log receipts

Professionalism

  • Model Bridges of Iowa mission and values for all guests and staff
  • Mentor new employees; explain standards and work procedures; and demonstrate proper use of equipment
  • Attend required company and in-house meetings and training

Counselor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Counseling

  • Ensure the safety, care, and comfort of clients and visitors
  • Lead group and individual counseling, support, and psychoeducational sessions
  • Review, evaluate and provide feedback on assignments
  • Attend daily and weekly Clinical Team meetings
  • Perform and documents biopsychosocial assessments 
  • Assist clients in preparation and completion of individual treatment plans
  • Ensure completion of program components
  • Assist clients in coordinating referral services as needed
  • Assist clients in transition planning
  • Prepare daily lessons covering the prescribed curriculum
  • Coordination with third party stakeholders in guest’s care
  • Assist in the completion of UA’s

Documentation

  • Submits a daily written assessment of the progress of each assigned client in the company Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Maintains any paper records in accordance with HIPAA and State guidelines
  • Clinical documentation meets standards appropriate of licensure, state, and accreditation

        Minimum requirements                  

        • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, preferred degree in Psychology or Sociology or a degree with related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
        • Valid Iowa Driver’s License
        • Pass drug screening and background check prior to finalization of job offer
        • Acquire and maintain a level of certification of CADC or higher from the Iowa Board of Certification
        Medication Technician

        Assist in the supervision of daily medication times. All medications are given to clients for self-administration.

        Essential Duties and Responsibilities

        • Accurately supervise clients self-administration of prescribed medication
        • Ensure clients are taking medications as prescribed
        • Complete daily medication counts
        • Pick up medications at pharmacy
        • Review client charts to ensure medication counts match
        • Work with program director to ensure compliance with Bridges of Iowa pharmacotherapy/Medication Management policies and procedures

        Documentation

        • Complete required critical incident reporting when appropriate
        • Enter all medical documentation into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) required by State, accrediting body, and Bridges of Iowa
